It’s been a hazy summer, but we are finally starting to see signs of the smoke clearing- and just in time for a fun-filled week of new student orientation events!

The UM Food Pantry will be at the Bear Fair on Monday (8/23) from 4 — 6 pm. We will be handing out trail mix, fresh fruit, and other healthy snacks. Come see us on the Oval for some tasty treats, and to learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities with the pantry!

In other *exciting* news, the ASUM agency formerly known as the Renter Center- which primarily assisted students with renter issues- is being rebranded to service more of students’ most basic needs. This fall semester, ASUM will be introducing the Basic Needs Agency: an agency focused on providing support, advocacy, and referrals to students experiencing various forms of basic needs insecurity (BNI). ASUM is currently seeking a program manager to oversee this new agency. Click here to learn more or apply!

Before we say goodbye, we’d just like to highlight our impact over this past summer. Even though we were short staffed, the UM Food Pantry managed to distribute 1,799 lbs. of food to 53 customers throughout July & August. We also distributed over 150 lbs. of herbs, fruits & vegetables from our very own employee gardens! Thank you to everyone who shows up at our table each week & helped to spread the word — you have truly helped to make this pilot program a success!

Alright Griz, go enjoy your last few days of freedom & we’ll see you next week!
